Art from head to toe

Two different shows. Two different sets of body art. Could it be a new trend emerging? Rodarte and Catherine Malandrino went above and beyond with their looks. Not only did they display their fashions on the models, but they placed no restrictions on the make-up as well; manifesting in the form of body tattoos. At Rodarte, the tattoos were extensive and took forty minutes on each model from start to finish, while at Malandrino only four out of the 38 models sported the look but it was enough to leave a lasting impression.

Speaking of Rodarte these ladies definitely know how to capitvate a crowd on all levels. Their show was amazing!! I love the inspiration and the story behind the looks. Kate and Laura Mulleavy [the designers] both studied art history and their line definitely reflects their artistic mindset. These California girls used their state's singed land and Death Valley as a muse. The collection is the story of a 'woman burned alive who is transformed into a California condor. Forced to scavenge for existence in a barren, war-torn landscape, she pieces together her attire from rags that, as Laura Mulleavy pointed out, only serve to expose her wounds.' Definitely dark, but I'm digging the edge-appeal in this line. Criticized for being 'unwearable' at times, I just think their clothes aren't for the faint-hearted and can only be worn by someone as fierce as these clothes.

These ladies have a vision. With all this creativity and beautiful pieces emerging day after day at fashion week, I'm just dying to go!! What are your thoughts on the line?
