Diversity on the Rise

Introducing Arlenis Sosa Pena.
In a time where the only well-known names of black models were literally on a one hand count, this Domincan beauty pops up. She joins the likes of Chanel Iman, who like herself, is also bursting on the scene. Pena is taking her pretty face to the bank being signed as the new face of Lancome. Celebrating it's 75th anniversary, the brand is reaffirming it's core values: “To reveal, accompany and elevate women to help them flourish, regardless of age, style or skin colour.” To help solidify this, they have gathered various brand ambassadors Kate Winslet, Elettra Wiedemann, Inès Sastre and of course Arlenis Sosa. Quickly relocated to New York after being discovered in her hometown, Pena has barely had any down time. Debuting a runway appearance for Banana Republic’s holiday show in New York, posing in an Italian Vogue spread, and strutting for designers such as Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, BCBG Max Azira, Bottega Veneta, Carlos Miele, Carolina Herrera , Derek Lam , Diane Von Furstenberg, Gap (to name a few.)

It looks like it's only up for this beauty.
It's always nice to see the fashion industry embracing culture and diversity.
