Naomi Campbell is up in fumes after discovering that a chocolate manufacturer has compared her to chocolate in a new advertisement. In the advertisement, a chocolate candy bar is surrounded around jewels with the caption "Move over Naomi, there's a new diva in town."
If you want to get into the technical side of things, the ad doesn't specifically reference the name Naomi Campbell.However, the model claims that the company has used her name without permission and has released the following statement about the the ad: “ I am shocked. It’s upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humor in this. It is insulting and hurtful.”
Her mom also added her two cents into the situation.
“I’m deeply upset by this racist advert. Do these people think they can insult black people and we just take it? This is the 21st century, not the 1950s. Shame on Cadbury”.
Naomi is looking at all her possible options, and is considering suing the manufacturer. All we know is that the company should reconsider the entire ad, because Naomi Campbell is not a woman you want to mess with.
