Trend spot: Over the knee boots

Louis’s done it again debuting over the knee boots in his fall 2009/10 collection.

I have to say I love love looove boots. They can transition into any season spring, summer, fall. Over the knee boots are great for fall/winter because they can add a definite edge (and warmth) to your look for these colder months. Just pair with tights, leggings, or super skinnys and you’re set! I’m more on the height challenged side (I’m 5 ft) so personally I think this trend gears toward taller people otherwise it’ll engulf your whole leg. Here’s a couple of your favorite celebs wearing this tall trend:

If you’re looking to purchase some here are a couple I found:
Nine West
'Rontae' Boot
$119.00
Stuart Weitzman

'Hiho' Thigh High Boot
675.00
Chinese Laundry
'Trust Me' Over the Knee Boot
$99.95
Calvin Klein
‘Mayson’ Over the knee boot

$219.95
This is one of those trends that you either go big or go home! Careful though, it can start to lean towards hooker than high-fashion. It’s not an easy trend to fall into, but with anything the main key is confidence. Half the battle of showstopping, is believing you’re fly. So am I going to see any of you fashionistas rockin the over the knee boot trend this fall/winter?

Trend spot: Headbands/ Headpieces

Headbands/ head pieces are big this season! Just look at the Louis Vuitton Autumn/ Winter 2009 runway show. (His pieces are a little over the top though)
or Diane Von Furstenberg
It's all over!
I know, I know, when you think of head bands you think of cute little five year olds. Or it being extreme (ie. the models up above) But that’s simply not the case! They can easily transition into your budding adult life and you don’t need to be some runway model to pull off the look. Headbands are easy to wear and help your hair go from drab to fab in seconds! The ones with big bows are sometimes a little much and few people want to pull them off. But just choose whatever style of band suits you and rock it!
Whether it's hippie chic:
or classy and formal:
Or simple metal/plastic. It really is up to you! If you're on the go just grab one and pull it over your head with straight hair or pull your hair into a pony tail and place one on. That way, you're out the the door in a flash and instyle. Here are a couple I found. This one you can get at Nordstroms:
Tasha Feather Flower Headband
$48.00
These you can get at Urban Outfitters for $24.00
Or you can go to Claire's, Icing, or any accessory store and find even cheaper ones.

Kanye West.............A Stylist?

Mr. Kanye West has now added Fashion Stylist to his resume. Not only has he collaborated with the great Louis Vuitton, and spent time 'interning" with Gap, Kanye is now styling for ELLE Magazine. Mr. West worked as a contributing stylist to the magazines October issue, working very closely with creative director Joe Zee.

Zee explains, "Kanye, the editor is quite something, We texted, called, and e-mailed each other for past few months and I absolutely loved working with him. I enjoy people who know how to bring their vision across and Kanye is very specific with what he likes and doesn't like".

Kanye is doing the damn thang! I think Kanye has unique style, and he def. has an eye for fashion. I love me a man who knows how to dress! I am super excited to see who he styled for the October issue. I know that he will do a FAB job!

Men of Style: Pharrell Williams

[Disclaimer: I don't own or take credit for the images]

We always rep the ladies but what about the men? That's why we're bringing you "Men of Style."  You can't deny a man with good fashion sense, that's why our first feature is Pharrell Williams. Voted the "Best Dressed Man in the World" in 2005 by Esquire magazine, he's a perfect start to our new segment. He's even been quoted to say "Balenciaga's dope, you can never go wrong with one of his bags." Ummm...I think I found my style soul-mate. Those bags are amazing! I really dig his style and mentality on fashion. It's a mixture of high end meets skater/hip-hop. His laid back style isn't so "look-at me" as sometimes it may have seemed; he has gone on to say that it's all "A sense of artistic expression. It doesn't have to be loud, bright, it just has to be you. A lot of people can afford any threads they want, but if it doesn't have to do with who they are, it looks ridiculous." A thought I can most definitely appreciate. With so many trends shooting outta left field, people just gravitate to the ones that are popular at the time. Which IS a big mistake because everyone's body type or whatever is different so it might not have the same effect as it does on an individual. (But anyways back to my man Pharrell.)
You may know him for his part in his band NERD, but that's not all his hands are full with. He co-designs with Japanese designer Nigo, who, (if you didn't know) is also the founder of A Bathing Ape (BAPE) which is big in the hip-hop scene. Nigo and Pharrell's line of street wear, Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream, mixes hip-hip, skate and sci-fi styles (The singer is an avid fan of Star Trek which inspires his label name, using the Vulcan state to signify it). The lines consist of T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, knits, denim, suits and shirts; outerwear in leather, down, cotton, and technical fabrics; hats, sneakers, underwear, socks and accessories.  Check out his line at http://bbcicecream.com/store/bbc_index.html. In an interview for Instyle he talks about what inspired his looks: "It's basically everything I ever wanted as a kid but couldn't afford--and if I could of afforded it, no one was making it." The line is all made in Japan using high quality fabrics.
Williams is also known to love Louis Vuitton so it was no surprise that he was asked along with Nigo, to work on a jewelry line for them. The collection  showcases his love of beautiful settings with gorgeous stones, comprising women's styles, using gold, diamonds, sapphires and rubies. Even creating a new LV logo for the line.

With all his mad creativity jumping from music to fashion what else could he even add to his list? Two words: Bionic Yarn. The producer/singer/ fashion mogul is going green! Downsizing his assembly of not-so-earth friendly luxury cars the next progression was only natural: Bionic Yarn is an organic, environmentally sustainable fabric line made of recycled plastic bottles. "The yarn is so soft you can't even tell there's plastic in it," says Williams. His goal would be to incorporate it into his clothing line. This fashion savvy individual dances to the beat of his own drum (sometimes literally haha he drums for NERD as well...) and that's why we love him here at EternallyFixated :)
