Lady Gaga's Beauty Secrets

Lady Gaga sat down with People magazine to reveal her beauty secrets. Surprisingly the singer has a pretty normal beauty regimen, for example brushing her teeth before bed, and washing her face with ivory soap. Though, when asked how many times she washes her face before going to bed she replies,

“Seven. That is not good for your skin, but I’m blessed with good genes.”

We can't imagine going that many nights without washing our faces, but like she said she  is one blessed woman! Though, there's one item that the super diva doesn't leave home without, which is sunscreen.

“I don’t like to tan my face because it’s bad for wrinkles".

You also won't be spotting Gaga with mascara or fake lashes anytime soon.

“I think it’s more modern not to wear [either]. I just wear eyeliner.”

On the other hand, fame hasn't been so glamorized to her signature white-blonde locks. She explains that she has to get a chemical haircut, because her hair is falling out due to the numerous dyes (Gaga is an original brunette). Guess it's true what they say, you win some...you loose some.

Lady Gaga's best beauty advice?? Staying true to yourself.

“Just go with your gut, whenever you try to be someone else, it’s boring.”

All about the eyes

Don't you just love Eva's makeup? She is one of the many stars that always knows how to rock the smokey eyed look, and make her eyes the main focus. Nothing makes the eyes pop out more than a set of full lashes. Now, if you're not blessed with naturally long lashes or just want to pump up your look for going out, fake lashes are perfect! I've always wanted to try fake lashes, but was a bit hesitant because I didn't want them to fall off or look super fake. In the end, I decided to try out this trend and with a little practice it's actually not as hard as it looks.

These are the tools I used:

L'Oreal Extra Intense Black Liquid Liner Pencil

It's basically a gel/liquid liner in pencil form that just glides on so smooth, and stays put!
Super cheap and you can get it at any drugstore.
(Joyful and I mentioned it in a previous post)

Duo Eyelash adhesive

They have a supposed clear one,
but I personally prefer the color toned one
because it looks like you have a bit of eyeliner on
and the clear toned one sometimes doesn't always dry clear.
But you can experiment with either and see which you like better.

MAC #7 Lashes

I used these particular lashes because they give that dramatic effect
while still keeping it natural-looking.
They're about $13.00

The thing you have to remember is placing false lashes on is the last step! So once you've done all your regular face makeup and eye makeup, you're ready for the lashes. I lined the inner rim of my eyes with the eye liner as well as the top of my lash line. This helps so when you place the lashes you won't see a big old gap inbetween your real and fake lashes; basically it helps them look more natural. Take out your lashes and bend it a bit so that it can mold to your eye shape easier. Take a thin amount of glue and place it on the lashes, wait about 30 seconds or so [it adheres better to the skin if the glue dries and is a bit tacky], then place it as close to the lashline a possible. The trick isn't to be really agressive. You can take a Q-tip and press it into the lashline and pinch the real and fake lashes together. As an extra step you can add mascara to blend the two together but I didn't when I tried it.

My finished look:

I realize showing is better then telling so I found this really good youtube vid featuring a make up artist named Kandee showing how to put them on. She's super cute and knows what she's talking about:

And because I used Eva Longoria as an example, here's another one of her tutorials that show how to get that smokey-eyed 'Eva' look:

Try it out!
Tell us how it goes.
Remember practice makes perfect and if you do it right you'll have lashes for days :)

A BOLD Satement

Red lipstick is simply classic. Channeled for decades, bold red lipstick always seems to reappear in fashion. Lately, I have noticed many celebrities conveying this look and I love it! I personally don't rock bold lipstick because my lips are more on the voluptuous side, and I would rather not put more emphasis with such a bold accent. However, red lipstick is great for those who would love to put attention on their lips. Red lips can be a great touch to an outfit. Especially when wanting to portray an old Hollywood glam look, red lipstick is perfect! There are several different types of shades of red lipstick that you can easily find! I personally love the MAC collection of red lipstick which you can find here:

Many times women are afraid to wear red lipstick because of various reasons like, smearing your teeth. However, I found a great website that helps women learn how to apply red lipstick. Check it out here http://beauty.about.com/od/howtos/a/redlips.htm

Here are your fav. celebs with bold lips:)

What can I say Ms. Kerry Washington is absolutely STUNNING. She has such a natural beauty about her that it doesn't take much for her to look flawless. With her radiant complexion, peachy cheeks, sheer lip color, and beautiful eyes, you can't deny, she is beautiful! I loveee her makeup! She has been noted to use Makeup by Giorgio Armani such as: Armani Luminous Silk Foundation n '9, Giorgio Armani Maestro Obsidian Black Mascara, and Giorgio Armani Sheer Bronzer.
Expensive but WORTH IT! You can check out Giorgio Armani's makeup line at www.neimanmarcus.com
I adore Ms. Washington because she seems completely humble and she is incredibly talented! With amazing films under her belt such as Ray, The Last King of Scotland, Fantastic Four, Save the Last Dance, Our Song, and The Dead Girl, Kerry is definitely a rising starlet. Watch out for Ms. Washington because she is here to stay.

The Perfect Fragrance

Even though this fragrance has been out for a while, I just recently had a chance to preview Fancy by Jessica Simpson, and I LOVEDD it. Jessica Simpsons signature fragrance is to DIE for. Her perfume is a mixture of warm vanilla scents(which I LOVE), topped with floral elements. I was a little surprised that it smelt so good because usually when celebrities branch out to other ventures it's not so good lol .Well ,Jessica Simpson def. knows what shes doing! This is the perfect fragrance for the fall. Trust me ladies your man will loveee this on you!!! Check out Jessica's fragence line at all Macys stores or www.macys.com.

Retailers might want to think twice before hiring pretty girls.

Would you buy something from a sales associate who looked like this?

Well a study in Australia shows that most women wouldn't. According to a story in Retail Week, researchers analyzed the behavior of women in age groups 18-26. The study showed that they were less likely to purchase if they thought the salesperson was more attractive than they perceived themselves to be, regardless if the product was even related to appearance.

“Women are ‘biologically competitive’ and the perception that another female is more attractive than them is a direct social threat and affects their behavior,” says Bianca Price of the University of South Australia.

Hmmm…a couple words come to mind when I read this: Haters, insecurity, um jealousy??
Seriously though. Just because a sales girl is pretty doesn’t mean anything to me. What matters is if she gives good retail service, is friendly, or not in the least bit b**chy. I mean if you’re shopping for make-up, you’re going to take advice from the girl with the prettiest make-up, right? At least I would. Unfortunately our society puts a lot of emphasis on beauty so is it even a wonder that retailers think that way?

Price added: “Retailers often think that beautiful is better. In the same way they use a celebrity to endorse a product, they hire a beautiful girl thinking that it reflects the brand and that other women will want to be like her. It doesn’t always work like that - women may not consider celebrities a direct threat, but they might consider the girl at their local mall to be one.”

On one hand I can see some truth in this study. Most women go on what we call a little “shop therapy” when they’re feeling down. Looking for something in the local mall to make them feel better which usually is something that makes them feel pretty. So when you’re having one of those bad days where you’re hair’s too poufy, your outfit is out of season, and then you walk up to a Heidi Klum look-a-like who claims she ‘eats whatever she wants’ it just makes the day just that much better.

But then I think back to one of my older retail jobs. She’s what you’d call nothing less than gorgeous and resembled Halle Berry. With her impeccable style and her ability to make any consumer feel like you’ve been BFF’s for years, she was THE top seller at the store. Which definitely breaks the credibility of this study.

So what’s a retailer to do? “The key is to hire sales people of all shapes and sizes so that customers can find someone to relate to,” says Price.

I agree. Or find Pretty people with complete relate-ability, that can make anyone feel beautiful on those Heidi run-in days.
